How should we wash bras so they last longer?
This is a topic you ask us about a lot. When we buy underwear, like any other product, we look for a certain durability over time. And it's a complete pain, isn't it, to buy, for example, a minimizer bra—that minimizer bra that was so hard to find and fits us perfectly!—only for it to last 1 or 2 months?
That's why this week we're dedicating our post to showing and teaching you some tips on how to wash your underwear so it doesn't deteriorate prematurely and, of course! So it can last for years in perfect condition! :)
What do you think? Let's get to it!
Not only do you have to think about how to wash it, but also how to dry it. But let's go step by step.
As Tip #1,
if you can AVOID washing your bra in the washing machine, you'll gain many months of a perfect bra! It's that simple. A bra in the washing machine, if it centrifuges (which it evidently will), will suffer knocks to the underwire and lace that such a delicate garment, no matter how high quality it is, should never endure.
Keep in mind that the spin cycle is a very "aggressive" action, not only for delicate bra designs, but also for bra elements that cannot and should not suffer strong impacts, such as the underwires, for example.
If you wash it in the washing machine and it has underwires, rest assured that after X washes, the underwires will start to deform, due to the weight of the other garments on it, and due to the spin cycle (we know we repeat it a lot, yes, but it's very important that you keep it in mind).
Now, if you have absolutely no time, and you're going to put it in the washing machine, at least do it with a mesh laundry bag for delicate items and ALWAYS with the bra band fastened! At least in this bag, the fabrics and hooks won't get tangled with other outer garments, which can also end up damaged if they catch on the bra hooks.

And well... we want to tell you a trick, or a way to "save" bras from the washing machine.
TRICK FOR THOSE WHO DON'T HAVE TIME TO HAND WASH BRAS!
As a tip, or trick, we do it a lot here. If you have to wash your bra, more or less once a week, or twice, depending on how often you wear it (and how hot it has been or how much you've sweated) Why not take it into the shower with you? Yes, yes, you read that right. Get used to taking your bra into the shower, with the typical laundry detergent you usually use for hand washing clothes, and give it a good rinse while your hair conditioner does its job :)
Believe us, if you get used to doing something like this, you'll save yourself from frustrations, bra deformations, and what's more, they'll last for years!
Also, if you want it to wash really well, because you think it's quite dirty from the use you've given it or the heat, what you can do is leave it to soak for a couple of hours in a basin with water and detergent. When you get in the shower, you'll only have to rub it a little and rinse off the detergent with water.
And having explained our number 1 tip, and our super trick to make any bra you have at home last much longer, let's move on to tip number 2.
Tip number 2: Where or how do you dry your underwear?
Be careful with the dryer! This, yes, should be completely forbidden.
If you put your bra in the dryer, forget about it in... more or less, 3 / 4 washes at most. And if it has lace... just two times in the dryer will be enough for the bra to be damaged forever, no matter how good or high quality it is.

You must be very clear about which garments can go into the dryer and which cannot. For our part, and as advice, underwear should be prohibited!
Furthermore, to be even more precise, we never advise you to dry your bra in direct sunlight. If you do, the colors will fade and the lace will lose its elasticity. That lace that makes the bra so beautiful, unique and Singular :)
Remember that underwear are very delicate garments and if we want to keep them perfect and intact for a long time, we must take care of them.
A minimizer bra, a plus-size bra, a push-up bra, no matter what size it is, if it's designed with special lace and fabrics, it needs to be taken care of. And beware! Not just those with lace and pretty designs, but also our everyday basics.
And now that we've given you the lowdown! We'll give you a mini summary of what to do to wash your underwear, and how to do it.
YOU SHOULD NOT:
-Wash bras in the washing machine.
IF YOU DO:
-Put them inside a mesh laundry bag.
-Make sure the hooks are closed.
-Try to use the weakest spin cycle the washing machine has.
FORBIDDEN:
-Put all bras in the dryer.
-Put lace and microfiber briefs in the dryer.
And that's all, girls, we hope we've helped you, clarified your doubts and anything else that might have crossed your mind ;)
