HOW TO KNOW IF I AM WEARING THE CORRECT BRA SIZE
Today's post will be dedicated to mentioning some of the most common issues that occur when we are not wearing the correct bra size. It is very important to know how to identify if we are wearing our perfect bra size. We can experience back pain, chafing on our skin, and even very uncomfortable sores from not wearing the right bra size.

Has it ever happened to you that the bra band rides up a lot?
or...
That the straps hurt you a lot and dig into your shoulders?
or...
That the underwire invades your breast and ends up causing chafing or sores on your breast itself?
If so, you are in the right place :) At Singular Corsetería, we are going to mention all the "problems" that arise when you are not wearing your perfect bra size.
Furthermore, we are going to help you identify which part of the bra is not fitting correctly because it's not your perfect size (whether it's the cup, the band, or both), based on the problem you have or that arises with it.
What do you think of the idea? Shall we go for it? Yes!
Case 1: The Bra Band Rides Up Your Back
When this happens, it's because you're not wearing the correct band size.
You need a smaller band size.

If the bra band rides up, it's because it's not securely enough against your body, so it "dances around" and goes up due to the weight of your breasts.
If the band rides up and the cup perfectly supports your breast, then only change the band size and keep the cup size. Example: if you wear a 100D, you would go to a 95E. Same cup size and one band size smaller. (If you need more information about size equivalences, you can check our post: Bra Size Equivalences)
If, on the other hand,
The band rides up and you also notice that the cup forms some wrinkles, then go down one band size and also one cup size. Example: if you wear a 100D, you would go to a 95D. One band size smaller, and also one cup size smaller.
Case 2: The bra band moves around
When a bra band is too big (back), it doesn't always have to ride up as we mentioned in the previous example.

It can also simply "move around." That is, you might feel it's too loose, as if... it doesn't sufficiently support your breast size, the weight of your breast. When this happens, only vary the band size, keeping the cup size. Example: if you wear a 100D, you would go to a 95E.
Case 3: The straps are too tight and end up chafing your shoulders
If the straps are very tight, it's time to consider that the cup might be too snug, even if you don't realize it. Straps are very much related to the bra cup.

Our recommendation is that if the bra straps cause you cuts or a lot of redness from wearing them for many hours, try increasing the cup size by one, as it might be too tight even if you don't notice it. With a larger size, you will feel the same breast support, and you will stop feeling that pressure in the upper area of the breast and, therefore, on the straps/shoulders.
Case 4: The bra underwire invades your breast and causes discomfort, pain, or even chafing
Then we need to go up one cup size. It would not be necessary to also go up one band size.

When the underwire invades your breast, it's because the underwire size is not wide enough to fully encompass your breast. Therefore, if we only go up one cup size, we will achieve a "wider or more open" underwire, and in this way, it will no longer invade the breast.
Very important! If the underwire invades your breast a lot, a lot, it might be best to send us a photo to assess if you even need two cup sizes smaller ;)
Case 5: The bra underwire extends so far past the breast that it digs into your armpit area
Sometimes, when we buy a bra that is too big for us, the underwire reaches the lower armpit area and can cause very uncomfortable nicks or chafing.

If the underwire reaches the inner armpit area, it's because you need a smaller cup size.
Remember that the underwire should end exactly where your breast ends; it should neither invade it nor extend too far past it.
Case 6: The bra creates a "double boob" effect with tight shirts or clothing
At least one cup size larger will be the solution.
Why at least? Because we always have to assess how much "spillage" is left outside the bra. If it's just a little, try one size up. If, on the other hand, it looks very exaggerated, try two cup sizes larger.

The important thing is to identify that what you're wearing incorrectly in your bra size is not the band, but only the cup size.
Example: If you wear a 95E, change to a 95F. And if your breast protrudes a lot, go to a 95G.
Case 7: The bra cup forms small wrinkles
It is very, very important that our bra size is correct. You probably know that if a bra wrinkles, we will need a smaller cup size, right?

But the important thing here, besides knowing how to identify it, is to be clear about the importance of wearing your correct size, as not doing so can cause, among other things, very uncomfortable back pain.
If you wear a bra that is too small, you will experience chafing or uncomfortable pain in the areas where the bra is too tight.
Furthermore, if you wear a bra that is too large, you may cause yourself very uncomfortable back pain, as the bra will not be supporting your breasts properly, and all their weight will fall on your own back.
That is why we emphasize so much the importance of being comfortable, feeling supported, and wearing our perfect bra size.
If you are still unsure how to go from one size to another when changing cup size, band size, or both at the same time, we recommend that you check out our post BRA SIZE EQUIVALENCES where we will explain everything with images so that, once and for all, you become a professional Corsetière ;)
