Are plus-size bras the same as minimizer bras?
Are all plus-size bras also minimizer bras?
Is a minimizer bra better than a plus-size bra? or Is a plus-size bra better than a minimizer bra?
We get questions like these every day on our social media, in our email, and through the calls you make to us.
And the answer to all of them is very simple. So, today's post will be dedicated to explaining in more detail what a minimizer bra is, what a plus-size bra is, what the difference is between them, and who should use one or the other.
Plus-size bras
Plus-size bras are bras designed for women with larger breasts. They are usually also called capacity bras or large-capacity bras. Does that sound more familiar?
The only difference between a plus-size bra and a more standard-size bra is the depth of the cup, as a general rule.
We refer to a bra as a plus-size bra even if it is also manufactured for women with smaller bust sizes. For example, a bra that starts manufacturing in a B cup, but is also manufactured in a C, D, E cup…
Generally (though not always), plus-size bras do not meet certain characteristics that a woman with a large bust needs or considers essential for comfort and support in her daily life. For example, the cup is a deep cup, but that's it. The straps are thin. The band is not entirely wide, and so on.
But beware! This is not a negative thing because…
A plus-size bra can be perfect for a woman with a D, E, F cup bra size, etc. It simply depends on the breast shape each of us has. Some women can wear a plus-size bra perfectly and feel very comfortable, but others, due to their breast shape, will never be comfortable with just any plus-size bra.
So, a woman with a 105F can wear a plus-size bra and look great, while another, with more saggy breasts, or breasts that start lower down or higher up, despite having the same size, 105F, may never feel comfortable with a regular plus-size bra.
Minimizer bras
Generally, minimizer bras are usually designed and manufactured specifically and exclusively for women with large breasts.
Many brands even start manufacturing their bras with a C cup as the smallest cup. And this is because the bra is specially created from scratch to support a large bust size.
There are several very important characteristics in minimizer bras that differentiate them from plus-size bras.
The first and most important difference is the cup. The cup is not only designed for a large bust size, but it is usually made in three pieces, to perfectly support the breast from the bottom to the top and especially from the sides. A good minimizer bra should have a high cup on the sides, so that it collects and cleans the armpit area and thus achieves a more stylized, cleaner figure.
Another difference of minimizer bras is that, in addition to the high cup on the sides, it has at least a medium-width band. It is capable of perfectly supporting the breast and achieving maximum comfort throughout the day.
And finally, another difference that usually exists with plus-size bras is that the straps are always of medium width. A minimizer bra needs a strap that matches its cup and band design, and for this, it is necessary for the strap to be wide and capable of supporting a large bust size without the back suffering.
Who can wear a bra for large breasts and who can or should wear a minimizer bra?
Easy, no, super easy! This is our recommendation…
If you have well-positioned breasts, you can wear whichever you prefer. If your breasts are centered, too. Even if they are just separated, that's fine too!
But, if your breasts start from your armpit, for example, or start very high up, always opt for a minimizer bra.
There is a lot of fear about the term "Minimizer Bra". Many of you believe it is synonymous with "grandma bra" "classic bra" and that is not the case at all.
In fact, there are beautiful pretty minimizer bras that if you saw them, you would fall in love at first sight. You just have to know where to find them!
